Green Motion Ireland Rental Terms

Payment
An initial, non-refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. Accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard.

The balance is payable to the supplier directly on your arrival.  A bond equivalent to the vehicle excess will also be pre-authorised by the supplier on arrival (please ensure you have funds available - the amount will be frozen but not deducted from your credit card. It will be released when the vehicle is returned undamaged).

1.  DRIVER REQUIREMENTS:
1.1  Age Requirements: 
The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21 years. There is no maximum age limit. Drivers under 25 years of age are liable to a surcharge of €40/£35 per day. A minimum age limit of 28 years applies to the following vehicles:
SVMR (Z), SVAR (W), PDAR (I), FVMR (K), 
1.2  Licence Requirements: 
Drivers must produce a valid, full, unendorsed driving licence at the commencement of rental that has been valid for at least 2 years prior to the rental pick up date. Licences must be produced in person at the rental counter by the driver. Certain minor endorsements/offences may be accepted, please check with Central reservations for these.  Only the primary renter or additional drivers that have been added to the rental agreement are permitted to drive the vehicle. 
UK Licence: Customers with a new UK Photocard Driver's Licence must produce both the Photocard and its paper counterpart. Visitors from overseas must produce a driving licence issued in their country of permanent residence, along with a translation into English (where appropriate).
Holders of US, Canadian, Australian and All EU member states are NOT required to supply an International Driving Licence (IDL). An International Driving Licence (IDL) is required if your national driver's licence is not in Roman script. International driver's licence MUST BE accompanied by the original domestic licence of the driver. (This is clearly stated on the international licence).
1.3  Payment / Credit Card
A major credit card is required when you collect your car. We accept MasterCard, Visa, Visa Delta, American Express and Diners Club. Switch cards, debit cards (other than Visa Delta) or cash are not acceptable forms of payment. The credit card used to pay for the vehicle at time of rental must be in the name of the principal driver. At the time of the rental there must be sufficient credit on the card to cover all charges including any insurance excess/deductible amount.    

A deposit will be charged to your credit card when you make your booking. If there are insufficient funds in your credit card to cover the rental cost and any excess we will be unable to provide a vehicle.

2.  VEHICLE INFORMATION:
2.1  Car Types Available:
In line with most car rental companies, Green Motion Republic of Ireland Vehicle Rental operates a car rental fleet with many different makes and models of cars. We will always do everything possible to supply the reserved car type; we always reserve the right to supply a suitable alternative. All cars are equipped with a stereo/radio and either a cassette or CD player.
2.2  Vehicle Availability:
All car types are on free sale unless you are advised otherwise, or as specified on the rate sheet.
2.3  Fuel Policy: 
All customers will be charged locally for a full tank of fuel and will be requested to return the vehicle empty. This policy is enforced for rentals of 4 days or longer.  For rentals of 3 days or less, the customer has an option to return the car full or empty. If returned full, a refund of fuel charged will be given, however there will be no refunds for cars returned with a partially full tank of fuel.
2.4  M50 Toll Information
It is the duty of the renter to pay all tolls directly. Any fines/fees received by us will be charged directly to client’s credit card.
2.5  Grace Period
Green Motion Republic of Ireland Vehicle Rental offers all customers 59 minutes grace period from the time the car is due to be returned. If the car is not returned within this period an additional day will be charge to the customer based on local rates at that time.
We will “hold” the customers car for 1 hour after the agreed pick up time. If the client arrives after this time we will do all possible to accommodate the customer, however we cannot always guarantee that the vehicle booked will be available.
2.6  Maximum length of Rental:   
There is no maximum rental length in the Republic of Ireland, however all rentals in excess of 28 days will be liable to the higher VAT rate of 23% for the full duration of the rental. (Standard VAT rate is 13.5%). This additional VAT charge (9.5% of the rental costs) will be payable by the customer directly at time of pick up.
There is no maximum rental length in Northern Ireland.

3.  OPTIONAL & ADDITIONAL CHARGES:
3.1  Booster/Child Seats: 
Both Booster Seats and Child Seats are available, once they are requested at the time the booking is made. The cost is €40/£35 per rental. Our child seats are forward facing and are suitable for children between 9kg - 18kg. Our Booster seats are suitable for children between 15kg and 25kg in weight. We will provide the child/booster seat, however for safety and legal reasons it must be fitted by the customer.
Child seats are NOT available for rental for children under 6 months old or weighing less than 9kg. 
You should review the NEW EU CHILD SAFETY PROTECTION LAWS to ensure that you have the correct seat for your baby/child. If you are in any doubt, it is best that you bring your own equipment with you.
3.2  Additional Drivers:
Additional drivers can be added at time of pick up. The cost for each additional driver is €10/£8 per day. Normal age and licence requirements apply to all additional named drivers. Only drivers listed on the rental agreement may drive the rental car. Unauthorised drivers are not covered by our insurance and should never be allowed to drive the car.
3.3  GPS / Satellite Navigation Units:
We provide GPS units at a cost of €10/£8 per day with a maximum charge per rental of €100/£80. GPS units must be reserved at time of booking otherwise we cannot guarantee availability.
3.4  One Way Rentals:
One way rentals are permitted between the following locations in the Republic of Ireland at no additional charge, providing the rental is for 7 days or more. (Dublin, Shannon, Cork and Kerry Airports).  The one way charge for rentals of 6 days duration or less between locations in the Republic of Ireland is €100. The charge for one way rentals between Republic of Ireland and Belfast International Airport is €150/UK$£120. One way charges are not included in the base rates.
3.5  Cross Border Driving:
Unlike many other companies, Green Motion Republic of Ireland Vehicle Rental does not charge additional fees for cross border driving (except in the case of one way rentals).
3.6  Late Fees:
If customers arrive outside our normal operating hours a late fee of €50/£40 will apply per rental at all locations. See section 6 for branch opening hours.
3.7  Delivery/Collection:
On request only and subject to a variable fee.

4.  INSURANCE INFORMATION:
4.1  Collision Damage Insurance (CDI): 
This limits your financial liability for material damage to the vehicle, including theft, as long as the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.
CDI is subject to an insurance excess (see below).
If you have chosen a rate that excludes CDI you are liable for the full value of the vehicle and a minimum deposit of €3,000/£2,500 will be required when you collect your vehicle. You may opt to purchase CDI locally which will limit your liability to the excess levels details later.
The cost of CDI by car type per day is shown in the table below.

4.2   CDI Excess - Excess Liability (Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland)
All rentals that include CDI are subject to liability excess, ranging from €1,200 to €2,200 depending on the vehicle in the Republic of Ireland and ranging from £600 to £800 depending on the vehicle in Northern Ireland. This is the amount for which you are liable in the event of damage to the vehicle during the rental. The table below outlines the excess amount by car type.

4.3  Super Damage Waiver Insurance (SDW) (Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland)
In the Republic of Ireland you may reduce the excess to €100 if you purchase Super Damage Waiver Insurance (SDW). In Northern Ireland you may reduce the excess to zero id you purchase Super Damage Waiver Insurance (SDW). The rates per day to reduce the excess by car type are shown on the table below.

Important Note:  SDW does not cover tyres, wheels or glass.   
4.4  Theft Protection
If a rate exclusive of CDI is purchased by the customer, theft protection is specifically excluded. If the vehicle is stolen the customer is liable for the full value of the vehicle.
Customer may avail of theft protection on the vehicle for a nominal charge of €8/UK£6 per rental day.
4.5  Tyres & Glass Coverage
You may reduce the liability for tyre and glass damage to zero for a payment of €5/UK£4 per rental day.
4.6  Credit Card Insurance Coverage:
Certain credit cards offer collision damage cover for the driver, however most VISA, Mastercard and American Express card issuing companies in the USA have withdrawn coverage for car rental in the Republic of Ireland. A number of Canadian issued credit cards also offer coverage.
If the customer wishes to use their credit card to cover collision damage, a current letter of Authorisation from the credit card company must be presented at the time of rental in order to waive the CDI coverage. Client should note that theft insurance may not be included.
It is the sole responsibility of the customer to determine coverage with their provider and present proof of same upon arrival. If proof of coverage is insufficient, the customer will be charged locally for CDI. No car will be rented without CDI being included in the rental.
An administration charge of €25/UK£20 per rental applies if the customer opts to decline our Insurance Products.  See section 4.1 above for CDI Waiver Deposit required.
4.7  Damage to Vehicles: 
A damage report must be completed by the driver for any damage to the vehicle. If a collision occurs, a Police report must also be supplied when returning the vehicle. We strongly advise clients to contact us immediately in the event of any damage. If this procedure is not followed, the insurance cover could become invalid and the client could be liable for all damages.   
4.8  PAI (Personal Accident Insurance):
This may be purchased for €6.50/£5 per day and covers the driver only to a maximum of €12,500/£10,000

5.  ADDITIONAL CHARGES: (which may apply)
5.1  Location Surcharge: 
This is included in the rates unless specified otherwise. If not included the charge is €28 per rental.
5.2  Vehicle Licensing Fee/Road Fund Tax: 
This is included in all our rates.
5.3  Speeding, Parking and other Endorsements:
Fines for Speeding /Parking Fines and tolls are the responsibility of the hirer in full. If we receive any charges after the rental is completed we will charge the clients credit card for any fine and will also charge an administration fee of €30/£25.
5.4  Roadside Assistance:
All Green Motion Vehicle Rental cars include 24 hour breakdown assistance provided by the AA (Automobile Association). Abuse or unauthorised use of this service may result in a callout charge being levied on the client.
5.5  VAT (Value Added Tax);
Car rental in the Republic of Ireland is subject to a VAT rate of 13.5% and is included in the rates. However, if an individual rents for a period exceeding 28 days, a higher VAT rate of 23% will be applied as provided for under Irish VAT Regulations.
Van Hire in the Republic of Ireland is subject to a VAT rate of 23% at all times. 
For Northern Ireland rentals the VAT rate applicable is 20%.
5.6  Foreign Currency:
You may be charged for your car rental in EURO or another currency.  We do not accept any responsibility for charges levied by your credit card company in relation to foreign exchange transactions.   
5.7  Lost Keys:
Vehicle keys are chip coded and are expensive to replace. If you lose the vehicle keys, you will be charged for the replacement key. This is approximately €300/£250 plus any associated transport costs.
5.8  Incorrect Fuel:
If the driver or someone else puts the wrong fuel in the vehicle the vehicle should not be driven. The cost to rectify this mistake will be charged to the customer and is not covered under any insurance package purchased.
5.9  Condition of Vehicle on return:
We require that the renter returns the vehicle in a clean condition (normal wear and tear excepted). If the vehicle is exceptionally dirty upon return or if there is damage to the seats, seat upholstery or the carpets an additional charge for deep cleaning will apply. This charge will be dependent upon the actual state of the vehicle when returned. Any damage caused to the vehicle, if returned out of hours is the responsibility of the hirer until our staffs have checked in the vehicle.

DISCLAIMER:
Green Motion Republic of Ireland Vehicle Rental reserves the right at all times to decline a renter at any stage without recourse. These terms and conditions are subject to alteration.

Green Motion makes all effort to ensure that all information provided is correct at the time of booking. Furthermore, the customer by signing the rental agreement agrees to adhere to our conditions at the time of collection of the vehicle and for the duration of the rental.
 
Green Motion Limited cannot accept liability for any charges incurred on documentation signed for and accepted locally.
 
Green Motion Limited will not be held responsible for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs causing wilful damage, off road driving or drivingwithout due care and attention. The customer will accept responsibility in respect of such claims. This list is not exclusive.
When comprehensive insurance is taken out it is to provide the customer with entitlement to drive and covers the vehicle in the event of an accident. In the case where a customer is found negligent Green Motion Limited and its locations reserve the right to pursue the customer for the recovery of all losses incurred.

In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. Liability

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable. 

Disputes
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.

3.3  GPS / Satellite Navigation Units:
We provide GPS units at a cost of €10/£8 per day with a maximum charge per rental of €100/£80. GPS units must be reserved at time of booking otherwise we cannot guarantee availability.
3.4  One Way Rentals:
One way rentals are permitted between the following locations in the Republic of Ireland at no additional charge, providing the rental is for 7 days or more. (Dublin, Shannon, Cork and Kerry Airports).  The one way charge for rentals of 6 days duration or less between locations in the Republic of Ireland is €100. The charge for one way rentals between Republic of Ireland and Belfast International Airport is €150/UK$£120. One way charges are not included in the base rates.
3.5  Cross Border Driving:
Unlike many other companies, Green Motion Republic of Ireland Vehicle Rental does not charge additional fees for cross border driving (except in the case of one way rentals).
3.6  Late Fees:
If customers arrive outside our normal operating hours a late fee of €50/£40 will apply per rental at all locations. See section 6 for branch opening hours.
3.7  Delivery/Collection:
On request only and subject to a variable fee.

4.  INSURANCE INFORMATION:
4.1  Collision Damage Insurance (CDI): 
This limits your financial liability for material damage to the vehicle, including theft, as long as the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.
CDI is subject to an insurance excess (see below).
If you have chosen a rate that excludes CDI you are liable for the full value of the vehicle and a minimum deposit of €3,000/£2,500 will be required when you collect your vehicle. You may opt to purchase CDI locally which will limit your liability to the excess levels details later.
The cost of CDI by car type per day is shown in the table below.

4.2   CDI Excess - Excess Liability (Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland)
All rentals that include CDI are subject to liability excess, ranging from €1,200 to €2,200 depending on the vehicle in the Republic of Ireland and ranging from £600 to £800 depending on the vehicle in Northern Ireland. This is the amount for which you are liable in the event of damage to the vehicle during the rental. The table below outlines the excess amount by car type.

4.3  Super Damage Waiver Insurance (SDW) (Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland)
In the Republic of Ireland you may reduce the excess to €100 if you purchase Super Damage Waiver Insurance (SDW). In Northern Ireland you may reduce the excess to zero id you purchase Super Damage Waiver Insurance (SDW). The rates per day to reduce the excess by car type are shown on the table below.

Important Note:  SDW does not cover tyres, wheels or glass.   
4.4  Theft Protection
If a rate exclusive of CDI is purchased by the customer, theft protection is specifically excluded. If the vehicle is stolen the customer is liable for the full value of the vehicle.
Customer may avail of theft protection on the vehicle for a nominal charge of €8/UK£6 per rental day.
4.5  Tyres & Glass Coverage
You may reduce the liability for tyre and glass damage to zero for a payment of €5/UK£4 per rental day.
4.6  Credit Card Insurance Coverage:
Certain credit cards offer collision damage cover for the driver, however most VISA, Mastercard and American Express card issuing companies in the USA have withdrawn coverage for car rental in the Republic of Ireland. A number of Canadian issued credit cards also offer coverage.
If the customer wishes to use their credit card to cover collision damage, a current letter of Authorisation from the credit card company must be presented at the time of rental in order to waive the CDI coverage. Client should note that theft insurance may not be included.
It is the sole responsibility of the customer to determine coverage with their provider and present proof of same upon arrival. If proof of coverage is insufficient, the customer will be charged locally for CDI. No car will be rented without CDI being included in the rental.
An administration charge of €25/UK£20 per rental applies if the customer opts to decline our Insurance Products.  See section 4.1 above for CDI Waiver Deposit required.
4.7  Damage to Vehicles: 
A damage report must be completed by the driver for any damage to the vehicle. If a collision occurs, a Police report must also be supplied when returning the vehicle. We strongly advise clients to contact us immediately in the event of any damage. If this procedure is not followed, the insurance cover could become invalid and the client could be liable for all damages.   
4.8  PAI (Personal Accident Insurance):
This may be purchased for €6.50/£5 per day and covers the driver only to a maximum of €12,500/£10,000

5.  ADDITIONAL CHARGES: (which may apply)
5.1  Location Surcharge: 
This is included in the rates unless specified otherwise. If not included the charge is €28 per rental.
5.2  Vehicle Licensing Fee/Road Fund Tax: 
This is included in all our rates.
5.3  Speeding, Parking and other Endorsements:
Fines for Speeding /Parking Fines and tolls are the responsibility of the hirer in full. If we receive any charges after the rental is completed we will charge the clients credit card for any fine and will also charge an administration fee of €30/£25.
5.4  Roadside Assistance:
All Green Motion Vehicle Rental cars include 24 hour breakdown assistance provided by the AA (Automobile Association). Abuse or unauthorised use of this service may result in a callout charge being levied on the client.
5.5  VAT (Value Added Tax);
Car rental in the Republic of Ireland is subject to a VAT rate of 13.5% and is included in the rates. However, if an individual rents for a period exceeding 28 days, a higher VAT rate of 23% will be applied as provided for under Irish VAT Regulations.
Van Hire in the Republic of Ireland is subject to a VAT rate of 23% at all times. 
For Northern Ireland rentals the VAT rate applicable is 20%.
5.6  Foreign Currency:
You may be charged for your car rental in EURO or another currency.  We do not accept any responsibility for charges levied by your credit card company in relation to foreign exchange transactions.   
5.7  Lost Keys:
Vehicle keys are chip coded and are expensive to replace. If you lose the vehicle keys, you will be charged for the replacement key. This is approximately €300/£250 plus any associated transport costs.
5.8  Incorrect Fuel:
If the driver or someone else puts the wrong fuel in the vehicle the vehicle should not be driven. The cost to rectify this mistake will be charged to the customer and is not covered under any insurance package purchased.
5.9  Condition of Vehicle on return:
We require that the renter returns the vehicle in a clean condition (normal wear and tear excepted). If the vehicle is exceptionally dirty upon return or if there is damage to the seats, seat upholstery or the carpets an additional charge for deep cleaning will apply. This charge will be dependent upon the actual state of the vehicle when returned. Any damage caused to the vehicle, if returned out of hours is the responsibility of the hirer until our staffs have checked in the vehicle.

Green Motion Republic of Ireland Vehicle Rental reserves the right at all times to decline a renter at any stage without recourse. These terms and conditions are subject to alteration.

Green Motion makes all effort to ensure that all information provided is correct at the time of booking. Furthermore, the customer by signing the rental agreement agrees to adhere to our conditions at the time of collection of the vehicle and for the duration of the rental.
 
Green Motion Limited cannot accept liability for any charges incurred on documentation signed for and accepted locally.
 
Green Motion Limited will not be held responsible for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs causing wilful damage, off road driving or drivingwithout due care and attention. The customer will accept responsibility in respect of such claims. This list is not exclusive.
When comprehensive insurance is taken out it is to provide the customer with entitlement to drive and covers the vehicle in the event of an accident. In the case where a customer is found negligent Green Motion Limited and its locations reserve the right to pursue the customer for the recovery of all losses incurred.

The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. Liability
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable. 

Disputes
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
